COLLEGEVLLE, Pa. – The Cabrini women's lacrosse team surrendered the game's first five goals, but after 60 minutes, the Cavaliers secured their second consecutive victory today at Ursinus College, an 8-7 win that improved the club to 2-4 on the season.
Six Cavaliers found the back of the net in today's victory, led by seniors
Sarah Means and
Melissa Scanzano with two goals each. Fellow senior
Bree Thompson joined the duo with two points, pairing a goal and an assist.
For the second consecutive game, the Blue and White earned a significant shot advantage, outshooting the Bears 34-16, including a 17-5 advantage after the half. Cabrini also caused 25 Ursinus miscues and earned 12 free position shots to just four for the Bears.
Senior
Lacie Doubet led the Cavaliers with eight shots on the day, one more than Scanzano. Sophomore
Jess Breuning scooped a game high five ground balls and joined Means and Doubet with two caused turnovers each. Scanzano also accounted for three of Cabrini's five draw controls.

Megan Barlow recorded five saves to earn the victory.
The Bears took control of the game in the early going, as five players recorded goals in the opening 10:31. Scanzano put the Cavaliers on the board at the 14:11 mark with an unassisted tally. The senior added 14th goal of the season with 3:37 left in the opening half, sending Cabrini into the half trailing 5-2.
The Blue and White emerged from the break on fire, as Thompson cut into the lead just under two minutes into the period. Ursinus pushed its lead back to three goals before the Cavaliers took control with five unanswered goals.
Sophomore
Allie Vallen netted her second goal of the campaign at the 21:39 mark, before Means' first of the day cut the deficit to 6-5. Freshman
Jackie Neary completed a free position shot just 14 seconds later to even the score at 6-6 with 14:43 to play.
Thompson and Means hooked up at the 10:16 mark to Give Cabrini's its first lead of the day on Mean's sixth goal of the season. Just over two minutes later, Doubet added an unassisted goal, her team leading 15th, which proved to be the game winner.
Taylor DeBernardi led Ursinus (0-5) with three goals, while goaltender Margaret Philbin recorded 18 saves.
The Cavaliers will return to action on March 18, when it opens Colonial States Athletic Conference play with a trip to Gwynedd Mercy (2-1). The opening draw is slated for 7 p.m.
