RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini women's lacrosse team saw its five game win streak come to an end today, as the Cavaliers suffered a 14-13 loss to the visiting Rowan University Profs. The nonconference loss evens the Blue and White's record at 5-5.
Senior
Lacie Doubet led the Cavaliers with four goals. Early in the second half, the senior also joined an elite group of Cabrini women's lacrosse players with her 250th career point.
Fellow seniors
Melissa Scanzano and
Bree Thompson also recorded hat tricks for the Blue and White, with Thompson's third goal marking her 100th career point. Sophomore
Katie Lasater added a goal and two assists.
Doubet led the Cavaliers with nine shots on the day, two more than Scanzano and three more than Thompson. Sophomore
Jess Breuning earned game high honors with four draw controls.

Megan Barlow anchored the defensive effort with eight saves, including many from point blank range, and a team high eight ground balls. Scanzano joined fellow seniors

Mo O'Connell with three caused turnovers each.
Thompson opened the scoring just 90 seconds into the action, before the Profs responded with four consecutive goals. Doubet converted a Lasater pass into a goal at the 23:15 mark to snap the Rowan run. Following a Profs' free position shot, Thompson and Lasater marked the scoring column, pulling Cabrini to within 5-4 with 21 minutes left in the half.
Minutes later, Scanzano and Doubet tallied unassisted goals to even the score at 6-6 midway through the half. Scanzano added her second goal of the day with 4:46 left in the opening half to give the Blue and White its first lead since the early minutes of the game.
The Profs netted the final two goals of the period, including a woman-up goal with just one second to play, earning an 8-7 lead at the half.
The teams exchanged goals through the opening 10 minutes of the second half, with Rowan maintaining its slim lead. Goals by junior
Sarah Carzo, two by Doubet and one from Scanzano helped keep Cabrini within striking distance.
Cabrini completely eliminated its deficit with 14 minutes to play, as freshman
Jackie Neary went coast to coast, tying the score at 12-12 with her fifth goal of the campaign.
Rowan broke the tie just over a minute later, before Thompson's milestone goal again locked the score at 13 with 8:03 to play. Both teams had possessions in their offensive zones in the game's final minutes, but the Profs took advantage of their opportunity, scoring the game winning goal with 2:37 to play.
Senior Vicky Sucharski led Rowan (3-3) with three goals and two assists, while classmate Becca Wood and sophomore Rachel Hofbauer added three goals and an assist each. Freshman goalkeeper Erin Horner
recorded eight saves in the win.
The Blue and White will look to start another win streak on Saturday, as it welcomes Cedar Crest (0-3, 0-2 CSAC) to Edith Robb Dixon Field. The opening draw is slated for 1 p.m.
