RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini women's lacrosse team stayed perfect in the Colonial States Athletic Conference with tonight's statement win over Immaculata University at Edith Robb Dixon Field.
The Cavaliers topped the Mighty Macs 18-6 to improve to 5-0 in conference play and 7-5 overall.
Seniors
Lacie Doubet and
Melissa Scanzano led the Cavaliers with a combined 10 points in the win. Doubet tallied four goals and an assist, while Scanzano paired three goals and two helpers.
Fellow senior
Bree Thompson added three goals. Sophomore
Jess Breuning matched Thompson's three points on two goals and an assist.
Senior
Karlie Gruccio and sophomore
Katie Lasater recorded two goals each, while sophomore
Allie Vallen and freshman
Emily Crouse also found the back of the net.
Led by seven Doubet shots, the Blue and White built a 37-17 advantage in shots, including a 24-8 cushion in the first half. Ten of Cabrini's12 starters scooped at least two ground balls, including Breuning and junior
Mo O'Connell, who secured five each.
Breuning also controlled three draws, one more than Vallen, Scanzano and senior
Taylor Carroll.
Cabrini also caused a season high 14 turnovers. Scanzano, Vallen, senior
Tori Canelli and sophomore goaltender Meghan Barlow forced two Mighty Macs miscues each.
Barlow earned her seventh victory with seven saves, many from point blank range, and three ground balls.
The Blue and White put the game out of reach with a dominant opening 30 minutes. Breuning opened the scoring 42 seconds into the action and the Cavaliers never looked back. The Cavaliers scored the game's first three goals before Immaculata notched the scoring column at the 21:23 mark.
Cabrini responded as six players recorded 10 unanswered goals. A late Immaculata goal sent the teams into the halftime break with the Cavaliers holding a comfortable 13-2 advantage.
Junior Kelly Lapp led the Mighty Macs (5-5, 3-2 CSAC) with three goals and an assist, while senior Alyssa Petito scored two goals. Sophomore goaltender Christine McIntyre recorded eight saves in the loss.
The Cavaliers will return to action on Thursday, when they visit Rosemont College (2-5, 1-3 CSAC). Game time is slated for 4 p.m.
