ROSEMONT, Pa. – Fifteen Cavaliers recorded at least one point today, as the Cabrini women's lacrosse team scored a 14-2 win at Rosemont College. The victory improved the Cavaliers to 8-5 overall and 6-0 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference.
With just three league games remaining on the schedule, the Blue and White's 28th consecutive conference victory keeps it atop the CSAC standings, tied with Marywood.
Senior
Lacie Doubet led the Cabrini offense with four goals and three draw controls, while sophomore
Katie Lasater and freshman
Gabby Lee added two goals each. Senior
Bree Thompson added a pair of assists to go with two draw controls in the win.
Lee attempted a season-high six shots on the day, one more than Doubet and two more than seniors
Sarah Means and
Karlie Gruccio. The rookie also added three caused turnovers and two draw controls to her stat line.
Junior
Mo O'Connell forced two turnovers, while senior
Taylor Carroll matched Thompson and Lee with a pair of draw controls.
Sophomore
Megan Barlow earned the win in the Cabrini net after recording five saves.
The Cavaliers fired six shots on goal before finally breaking through Rosemont goaltender Nia Hall on Doubet's first goal 5:46 into the game. Less than 45 seconds later, the senior added her second of the day. Lee marked the score book 23 seconds later as Carroll notched her first point of the year.
Doubet completed her hat trick, extending the Cabrini lead to 4-0 just over 10 minutes into the action. Rosemont's Nicole Goodwin interrupted the Blue and White scoring streak with the first of her two tallies on the night, but the Cavaliers responded with 10 unanswered goals, a run that crossed into the second half.
Four Cavaliers scored goals in a span of 2:03 that extended the cushion to 8-1 with 14 minutes left in the period. Among the goals was Doubet's conference leading 39th tally of the season.
Minutes later, the Blue and White used another quick spurt to extend its lead. Freshman
Sara Johnsen's first career goal marked the first of three Cabrini goals in less than three minutes, as O'Connell and Johnsen recorded their first career assists.
Lasater added her second goal of the game with just over three minutes left in the period, Cabrini carried a 12-1 lead into the break.
Junior
Caitlyn Poole netted her third goal of the season just over five minutes into the second half, while freshman
Maddy Worley scored her first career goal just two minutes later.
The Blue and White held the Ravens to just nine shots, including seven on goal, and five draw controls, while holding Rosemont to just 11-31 in clears.
Hall totaled 13 saves for Rosemont (3-6, 2-4 CSAC) in the loss.
The Cavaliers will return to Edith Robb Dixon Field on Saturday, as they host Centenary (1-6, 1-5 CSAC). The opening draw is slated for 1 p.m.
