HUNTINGDON VALLEY, Pa. – The Cabrini golf team is in prime position to make a run to the 2015 Colonial States Athletic Conference title, as the Cavaliers closed the opening day of the championship in second place.
The Blue and White fired a team score of 329 to close the opening 18 hole round just three strokes behind Day One leader Marywood. Immaculata finished its round in third place with a round of 337, two strokes better than Keystone.
Four Cavaliers rank among the top 12 after 18 holes, led by sophomore
Dan Gentilucci. The sophomore shot an 80 to close the opening day in sixth place overall. Classmate
Joe Myers' round of 82 was good for ninth place, while sophomore
Michael Rojas sits in a 10th place tie after firing an 83.
Senior
Tommy Breslin carded a round of 84, ending the day tied for 12th, while classmate
Ted Nebiolo ranks 28th after an opening round of 92.
Marywood's Michael Thomas owns a commanding six stroke lead on the individual leaderboard after today's round of 72. Immaculata's Aaron Harper is in second place after today's 78, while a trio of golfers is tied for third after matching rounds of 79.
The top three teams, Marywood, Cabrini and Immaculata will be paired in threesomes for tomorrow's final round, scheduled to tee off at 11:50 a.m.
