RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini men's soccer team put on a solid performance tonight at Edith Robb Dixon Field, as the Cavaliers scored a 3-1 win over the visiting Penn State Brandywine Lions in the season-opener for both clubs.
Junior
Bobby Kane put the Blue and White on the board early, as sophomore
Ben Roda found him in the box for the season's first goal just nine minutes into the season.
Despite outshooting the Lions 13-6 in the opening 45 minutes and earning a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks, the score remained 1-0 at the break.
The score stayed 1-0 until Kane found classmate
John Underwood in the 61st minute to double the cushion. The Cavaliers suffered the dreaded post-goal let-down, as Brandywine's Nick Abhulimen put the Lions on the board 40 seconds later.
The Blue and White regained its two goal lead four minutes later, as Kane's pass to junior
A.J. Bishop resulted in a goal.
Kane and Bishop combined for 13 of Cabrini's 22 shots on the night, including five of the club's eight shots on goal.
Junior netminder
C.J. Serratore recorded seven saves to earn the victory.
The Cavaliers will return to action this weekend, as they compete in the Swarthmore College Garnet Classic. Cabrini will meet the host Swarthmore Garnett (0-1) on Saturday night and Widener University (0-1) on Sunday.
