RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini men's soccer team found its scoring touch in tonight's Colonial States Athletic Conference opener. Eight Cavaliers marked the scoring column, as the Blue and White downed the visiting Rosemont College Ravens 9-1 at Edith Robb Dixon Field.
The Cavaliers improved to 5-1-2 and 1-0 in the CSAC with the club's largest offensive output since a 9-0 win at the University of Valley Forge in 2013.
The Blue and White controlled the game from the opening whistle. Junior
A.J. Bishop put Cabrini on the board in the seventh minute after through ball from freshman
Nick Hood. Ten minutes later, freshman
Sal Zampirri notched the first of his three assists on the night when he connected with junior
Mo Konneh.
Less than two minutes later, Konneh connected with Bishop on a long pass that led to Bishop's second goal of the evening. In the 33rd minute, Zampirri found junior
John Underwood streaking through the middle of the pitch for his second tally of the season.
In the 40th minute, a pass from sophomore
Kyle Pettican sprung classmate
Joe Fiore for a breakaway, giving the Cavaliers a 5-0 lead at the half.
Zampirri's third assists came in the 57th minute, as the rookie's cross found the boot of fellow freshman
Jared Irwin, who went far post for his second tally of the season.
The Ravens got on the board less than 90 seconds later but Cabrini regained its six goal cushion in the 61st minute, when Pettican notched his first career goal from the penalty spot. The advantage grew in the 64th minute, as freshman
Lucas Lampertti and sophomore
Paolo Chavarria connected on a give and go for Lampertti's first career goal.
The Blue and White ended the scoring in the 87th minute, as freshman
Willy Vargas collected a loose ball and fired it into the back of the net.
Cabrini posted season-highs with 25 shots and 15 shots on goal, with 14 players attempting at least one shot. Bishop led the way with four shots, one more than Vargas and two more than six others.

C.J. Serratore recorded three saves to earn the victory. Freshmen
Nick Tilley and
Tim Atallah also saw action in the Cabrini net.
The Cavaliers will step out of conference play on Wednesday, when they head to Reading, Pa. to face Albright College (1-4-1). Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
