Men's Soccer Tops Neumann 2-0 for 3rd Straight Win

ASTON, PA – The Cabrini men's soccer team moved above the .500 mark for the first time this season, as it scored a 2- 0 victory at Neumann University.

With their third consecutive win, the Cavaliers moved to 6-5-1 overall and 3-1 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference.

A look at the stat sheet shows 90 minutes of end to end action with Cabrini earning a slight 18-16 edge in shots, including 8-7 in shots on goal. Both teams also attempted five corner kicks.

The Cavaliers took advantage of their final corner kick of the first half, as junior Ben Roda's service four senior A.J. Bishop, who netted his seventh goal of the campaign.

The Knights found more of their offensive rhythm after the halftime break, recording 12 of its 16 shots and three corner kicks in the second half.  Cabrini's senior goaltender C.J. Serratore was up to the task, tallying five second half saves.

The Blue and White clung to its slim one goal lead until the 83rd minute, when Bishop found freshman Kostas Slikas at the edge of the six yard box for the rookie's first career goal.

Senior Bobby Kane accounted for eight of Cabrini's 18 shots on the night, while Bishop added four.

Serratore ended the night with seven saves for his fourth shutout of the season, while extending Cabrini's shutout streak to 270 minutes.  

Shane Smith suffered the loss for Neumann (3-10, 2-2 CSAC) despite six saves, while Billy Swontek fired five shots.

The Cavaliers will return to Edith Robb Dixon Field on Saturday, when they host Clarks Summit University (4-9, 0-4 CSAC).  Kickoff is slated for 3pm.
