Women's Soccer Extends Streak to 7 with 4-1 Win over Clarks Summit

RADNOR, PA – The Cabrini women's soccer team extended its win streak to seven matches with a 4-1 victory over the Clarks Summit University Defenders today at Edith Robb Dixon Field.

With the victory, the Cavaliers improve to 7-5 overall and 6-0 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference.  The victory also sets up Saturday's showdown against Marywood University for the top spot in the league standings.

The Blue and White jumped to an early lead, as junior Taylor Tralie netted a pair of goals in less than 60 seconds, putting the Cavaliers ahead 2-0 with goals in the 12th and 13th minutes.

The junior's fifth and sixth goals of the season put Cabrini in control of the action and allowed head coach Ken Prothero to rest his starters while giving significant minutes to the reserves.

Freshman Katelyn Gilinger extended the Cavaliers' lead in the 33rd minute, as she dribbled through the Defenders' defense before scoring her fourth goal of the campaign.

The Blue and White carried its 3-0 lead into the second half, after outshooting Clarks Summit 16-1 in the opening 45 minute stanza.

Sophomore Brittany Woodruff added to the lead in the 76th minute, as her long distance chip sailed over the Defenders' goaltender.

The shutout slipped away in the 81st minute as Clarks Summit's Emily Howell scored her first goal of the year.

Cabrini finished the day with a 23-4 advantage in shots, including 13-2 in shots on goal.  Freshman Alex Garces and sophomore Theresa Mignogna attempted a team high four shots, while Tralie, Gilinger and sophomore Meghan Horn added three each.

Junior Gabby LeGendre and senior Marissa Jenkins split time in the Cabrini goal, with LeGendre posting the Cavaliers' only save.

Howell fired all four shots for the Defenders (1-12, 0-7 CSAC), while freshman Emily Reilly posted nine saves.

Cabrini will return to action on Saturday, as it welcomes the Marywood Pacers (6-4-1, 6-0 CSAC) to Edith Robb Dixon Field.  The 12 noon kickoff will also mark the program's annual Breast Cancer Awareness game.
