IMMACULATA, PA – The Cabrini men's soccer team saw its four match win streak come to an end today, as it suffered a 1-0 loss at Immaculata University.
The defeats sends the Cavaliers to 7-6-1 overall and 4-2 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference, while the Mighty Macs improved to 10-4-1 and 5-1 in the CSAC.
Despite an 8-3 advantage in first half shots, Cabrini could not find the right scoring combination, sending the teams into the halftime break in a scoreless deadlock.
Immaculata scored the game's lone goal in the 54th minute, as Kyle Jumalon's shot eluded the reach of Cabrini's senior goaltender
C.J. Serratore.
Trailing 1-0, the Blue and White turned up its offensive intensity, recording 10 of its 13 second half shots in the final 22 minutes of action.
Immaculata netmnder Joe Lubonski was up to the task, posting nine of his 12 saves in the second half to secure the shutout.
The Cavaliers created several late chances, as seniors
A.J. Bishop and
John Underwood combined for four shots in the final 10 minutes, as well as a pair of corner kicks, but the game-tying goal wasn't in the cards.
Underwood and Bishop recorded five shots each, as the Blue and White fired 21 shots, their second highest output of the season.
Serratore finished the day with three saves, while watching his shutout streak end at 350 minutes.
Jumalon and Gabe Dwyer accounted for four of the Mighty Macs' six shots on the day.
The Cavaliers will look to begin another streak on Saturday, as they travel to Scranton, PA to face Marywood University (4-7-1, 2-2-1 CSAC). Game time is set for 12 noon.
