RADNOR, PA – The Cabrini women's soccer team celebrated its seniors with tonight's 2-0 victory over Cedar Crest College at Edith Robb Dixon Field.
The win improved the Cavaliers' current win streak to 11 matches, moving the team to 10-5-1 overall and 9-0-1 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference.
With one game remaining on the conference schedule, the Blue and White hold a one game lead over Marywood in the CSAC standings.
Today's action marked the final regular season home appearance for Cabrini's four seniors,
Jess Breuning,
Meghan Horn,
Marissa Jenkins and
Allie Vallen.
Among the most successful classes in program history, the group has led the Cavaliers to 47 career wins, including a 37-1-5 record in the Colonial States Athletic Conference and three CSAC titles.
The Cavaliers jumped ahead early, as junior
Taylor Tralie's corner kick service found classmate
Marisa Christensen at the back post for her first career goal. Despite a 12-2 advantage in first half shots and seven first half corner kicks, the Blue and White led just 1-0 at the halftime break.
Cabrini turned up its pressure in the second half, holding the Falcons without a shot or corner kick in the second stanza. The Cavaliers pressure finally paid off in the 71st minute, as freshman
Katelyn Gilinger hit Horn with a cross field through ball for her third goal of the season.
Eleven Cavaliers accounted for the team's 20 shots in the win, with Tralie leading the way with four, including three of the club's 13 shots on target.
Junior goaltender
Gabby LeGendre recorded saves on the Falcons' only two shots on the night, before Jenkins replaced her in the 58th minute.
Today's result also extends the Cavaliers' shutout streak to 465 minutes, a streak that dates back to a 2-1 win at Immaculata on October 8.
Sophomore goaltender Morgan Maddock suffered the loss for Cedar Crest (5-8-3, 1-6-3 CSAC) despite 11 saves.
Cabrini will close its regular season on Thursday, as it visits Gwynedd Mercy University (8-6-2, 6-4 CSAC). Kickoff is slated for 6pm in Gwynedd Valley, PA.
