ROSEMONT, PA – The Cabrini men's soccer team found its scoring touch today, as five Cavaliers marked the scoring column in tonight's 6-0 victory at Rosemont College.
With tonight's win, the Blue and White improved to 9-6-1 overall and 6-2 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference.
While Cabrini has already secured its place in next week's CSAC Tournament, the Cavaliers sit in a three way tie for second place, one point out of first place. With Saturday's game ending the regular season, the Cavaliers could move as high as first place should things break in their favor.
The Blue and White controlled tonight's action, jumping ahead in the eighth minute, as senior
John Underwood found freshman
Andre Justin for his first career goal.
The Cavaliers extended their lead in the 26th minute, when senior
Ben Roda connected with classmate
A.J. Bishop for the first of his two goals on the night.
Bishop added the first of his two assists in the 33rd minute when he found Underwood.
Cabrini carried its 3-0 lead into the halftime break after outshooting the Ravens 19-4 in the opening 45 minutes.
The Cavaliers didn't waste much time extending its lead in the second half, as Bishop notched his second goal of the night, converting a long pass from fellow senior
Bobby Kane.
Bishop returned the favor in the 68th minute, as Kane notched his sixth goal of the season.
Freshman
Nicholas Leong closed the scoring in the 77th minute with his first career goal after fielding a long pass from Roda.
Kane accounted for six of the Cavaliers' 29 shots in the win, while Bishop and Justin added four each. In total, 12 Cavaliers recorded at least one shot, while Rosemont attempted just nine, with six on goal.
Senior goaltender
C.J. Serratore stopped all six of Rosemont's attempts on net to post his sixth shutout of the season.
Rosemont goaltender Zach Bowe suffered the loss despite 11 saves, while Anthony Bottoms and James Finney fired two shots each for the Ravens (3-12-2, 1-7 CSAC).
Cabrini will close its regular season on Saturday, as it celebrates Senor Day with a visit from Keystone College (9-5-1, 6-2 CSAC). Kickoff is slated for 1pm at Edith Robb Dixon Field, following a ceremony to honor the
Blue and White's eight seniors.
Saturday also marks the program's annual Alumni Day, as former Cavaliers will take the Edith obb Dixon Field pitch at 10:30am. Cabrini will also hold a canned food drive on Saturday, with all proceeds going to Philabundance.
