READING, PA – The Cabrini swim teams traveled to Albright College on Saturday for the first of its two meets this weekend. The Cavaliers' women suffered a 148-95 loss, while the men stumbled 142-86.
Senior
Christina Melchiorre highlighted the day's events with a record breaking performance in the 1,000 yard freestyle. The senior touched the wall in 11:21.35, shaving an astounding seven seconds off her previous record of 11:28.71 set back in 2014.
Junior
Candace Brown added a win in the 50 yard freestyle, posting a time of 26.09.
Senior
Todd Walker anchored the men's team with a pair of victories. Walker scored a win in the 200 yard butterfly, posting a time of 2:03.46, while his time of 5:03.98 in the 500 yard freestyle was good for his second win of the afternoon.
In other action, Melchorre added a second place finish in the 200 yard backstroke, while freshmen
Sarah Eplett,
Ashley Moore and
Lauren Finnegan recorded second place finishes in the 100 yard freestyle, 200 yard breast stroke and 500 yard freestyle, respectively.
On the men's side, senior
Hassan Goines posted a second place finish in the 100 yard breast stroke after joining Walker and juniors
Nicholas Vivian and
Ryan Hagan for a second place finish in the 200 yard medley relay.
The Blue and White will return to the Dixon Center Pool today at 1pm, as it hosts Marywood University.
