SWARTHMORE, PA – The Cabrini women's basketball team outscored Swarthmore 42-22 in the second half to earn its first win of the season, a 74-61 win over the host Garnet at the Swarthmore College Tip-Off Tournament.
With the win, the Cavaliers improved to 1-2, while Swarthmore fell to 0-3.
The Blue and White displayed a balanced effort with four Cavaliers scoring double figures. Freshman

Pattie Fortescue, sophomore
Gaby Jones and junior
Kate Skalski posted career best offensive outputs in the win.
Dodds led all scorers with a career high 22 points, while Skalski matched a career high with five made three pointers en route to 15 points.
Fortescue and Jones recorded career highs in points and rebounds, as both posted their first career double-doubles. Jones paired 15 points and 12 rebounds, while Fortescue added 10 points and 11 boards.
Swarthmore took an early four point lead in the first quarter before the Cavaliers battled back. Dodds' three pointer pulled the Blue and White to within 15-14 after 10 minutes of action.
Cabrini saw its deficit grow to 26-20 early in the second period before a steal and lay-up by junior
Myonie Williamson capped a 10-2 run, handing the Cavaliers a 30-28 lead.
The Garnet responded with an 11-1 run of their own to rebuild an eight point cushion late in the stanza. The Blue and White found itself staring up at a 39-32 halftime deficit with 20 minutes to play.
Trailing 43-37 less than three minutes into the third quarter, the Cavaliers used a 9-2 spurt, capped by a Skalski three pointer to regain the lead at 46-45 with 2:07 left in the quarter. Swarthmore rebuilt its four point cushion, but another Dodds three pointer sent the teams to the fourth quarter tied at 50.
The Blue and White took over in the fourth quarter, opening the frame on a 16-1 run, with Jones and Dodds combining for 12 of the points. Cabrini iced the win at the free throw line, where it converted eight of 10 attempts in the final three minutes.
The Cavaliers recorded 17 assists on their 21 field goals and tallied 12 steals in the win. Senior
Renee Oliver handed out a career high six helpers, two more than Williamson and freshman
Cassidy Gallagher. Oliver and Wlliamson also tallied three steals, while Gallagher added two in her first career start.
Oliver and Dodds were rewarded for their efforts over the weekend, as both were named to the All-Tournament Team.
Lindsay O'Sullivan led Swarthmore with 14 points and nine rebounds in 15 minutes off the bench. Maggie O'Neil posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 boards.
The Blue and White will hit the road on Tuesday, as they head to Scranton to face the No. 5 Royals. Tip is slated for 6pm as the opening game of a women's and men's doubleheader.
