Slow Start Dooms Women's Basketball in Loss at No. 3 Scranton

SCRANTON, PA – The Cabrini women's basketball team got off to a slow start and never recovered, as the Cavaliers suffered an 83-23 loss at No. 3 Scranton tonight.  With the loss, the Blue and White fell to 1-3 on the season.

Freshman Erin Dodds led the Cavaliers with 10 points, while fellow rookie Pattie Fortescue paired seven points and four rebounds. Senior Renee Oliver grabbed a team high six boards to go with four points.

Cabrini got off to a tough start, as it missed its first seven field goal attempts.  Scranton took advantage, scoring the game's first 23 points before an Oliver free throw opened the Cavaliers' scoring with 1:44 left in the first quarter.

The Cavaliers never found their shooting range at Scranton's Long Center, as the Blue and White shot just 14.3% from the field, including 1-18 from three point range.

Mackenzie Yori led Scranton (3-0) with 19 points, while Bridgett Mann paired 16 points and seven assists.

The Cavaliers will look to rebound on Nov. 30, when they open colonial States Athletic Conference play with a visit from Rosemont College.  Tip is slated for 6pm, as the first game of a women's and men's doubleheader.
