HACKETTSTOWN, NJ – The Cabrini men's soccer team fell short in its quest to score a second consecutive Colonial States Athletic Conference championship, as it suffered a 3-0 loss at Centenary University in the CSAC championship game.
The loss closed the Cavaliers' season with an overall record of 12-7-1.
Today's defeat also closes the careers of the Blue and White's eight seniors,
A.J. Bishop,
Tyler Bond,
Kyle Chevalier,
Bobby Kane,
Ryan New,
Ben Roda,
C.J. Serratore and
John Underwood.
As a group these young men led the Cavaliers to 51 total victories, including the 2015 CSAC title, while amassing more than 248 points and 213 saves in their combined 499 appearances in the Blue and White.
The Cyclones opened the scoring in the 31st minute and carried their slim lead into the halftime break. Centenary added second half goals in the 63rd and 75th minutes to seal the victory.
Despite recording 16 shots on the day, just five of the Cavaliers attempts were on target. Bishop, Roda and Underwood joined junior
Jared Irwin with three shots each.
Serratore recorded five saves in the loss.
Junior Justin White was named Most Valuable Player after leading Centenary (13-5-1) with five shots, including the eventual game-winning goal. Goaltender Devon Warne posted five saves.
With today's win, the Cyclones earn the CSAC's automatic bid to the 2016 NCAA Tournament, which begins next weekend.
