ALTOONA, PA – The Cabrini swim teams made the trek to Altoona, PA, today, to face Penn State-Altoona in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference action. The women claimed a 134-59 win, while the men fell 95-90.
Of the meet's 22 events, the Cavaliers recorded victories in 14.
Senior
Todd Walker led the Blue and White men with a trio of individual event wins. The senior scored wins in the 200 and 500 yard freestyles and the 100 butterfly.
Junior
Nicholas Vivian won the 200 yard individual medley, with sophomore
Ryan Brong finishing second.
Seniors
Robert Schmidt and
Hassan Goines recorded wins in the 100 yard backstroke and 100 yard breaststroke, respectively.
Fellow senior
Christina Melchiorre scored a pair of wins to lead the Blue and White women to victory. The senior touched the wall first in both the 50 and 500 yard freestyle events, with freshman
Lauren Finnegan and sophomore
Marissa Loro completing a 1-2-3 sweep in the 500.
The Cavaliers repeated the sweep in the 1000 yard freestyle, as Loro bested juniors
Brooke Hagan and
Jackie Ware.
Junior
Candace Brown added a win in the 200 yard individual medley, while freshmen
Sarah Eplett and
Katherine Buckman posted winning times in the 100 yard freestyle and 100 yard backstroke.
The Cabrini women also scored wins in both of the meet's relay events. Melchiorre and Finnegan joined seniors
Moira Prior and
Bella Badolato to win the day's first event, the 200 yard medley relay.
The Cavaliers closed the day with a victorious 200 yard freestyle relay, as the foursome of Eplett, Prior, Hagan and Finnegan reached the wall first.
The Blue and White will now turn their attention back to training before returning to competition on January 13, when they host Ursinus College. The action gets underway at 1pm at the Dixon Center Pool.
