DAYTONA, FL – After leading by as many as 12 points, the Cavaliers needed a three pointer in the final seconds of regulation to force overtime before suffering a 62-58 loss to Mt. St. Mary College at the Daytona Beach Shootout.
The loss dropped the Blue and White to 3-6 on the season, while the Knights improved to 3-8.

Erin Dodds led Cabrini with 18 points, hitting 3-5 from three point range, while sophomore
Gaby Jones matched a career best with 15 points off the bench to go with five steals and two blocked shots.

Nomi Washington chipped in with nine points, one more than junior

Renee Oliver secured a team high seven rebounds, while Skalski and classmate
Caroline Price grabbed five boards each.
After surrendering the game's first bucket, the Cavaliers found their offense, scoring 12 of the game's next 14 points. Freshman
Cassidy Gallagher hit Jones in the final seconds of the first quarter to give Cabrini a seemingly comfortable 18-6 lead after 10 minutes of play.
Mt. St. Mary turned the game around in the second quarter, as it used a 16-2 run to build a 23-20 lead with 101 seconds left in the opening half. Jones scored four of Cabrini's six points in the frame, including back to back buckets that gave the Blue and White a 24-23 lead at the half.
Both teams battled back and forth in the third quarter, with both building four point leads. A Washington three point play gave Cabrini a 34-30 lead with 5:38 left in the quarter, but the Knights responded with a 10-2 spurt. Dodds' jumper in the final minute of the quarter sent the Blue and White to the fourth quarter trailing 42-40.
Mt. St. Mary maintained its four point cushion through most of the final period, but a Dodds' triple evened the score at 48 with just under a minute to play. The Knights went 4-4 at the free throw line to regain a 52-49 lead with 17 seconds to play.
Following a Cabrini timeout, Dodds hit her final three pointer of the game, tying the score at 52-52 with seven seconds to play and sending it to overtime.
Both teams exchanged the lead in the overtime, but the score remained deadlocked at 56 with three minutes to play.
The Cavaliers could not find their shooting touch in the final minutes of overtime, as Price's lay-up marked the team's only basket in its final five attempts. The Knights went 2-4 from the floor and 2-4 from the free throw line to seal the win.
The Knights controlled the painted area, outscoring Cabrini 28-16 in the lane and outrebounded the Blue and White 48-30, with 14 offensive rebounds leading to 12 second half points.
Jessica Rini led Mt. St. Mary with 14 points and 13 rebounds, while Kayla Cleare paired a game high 16 points with eight boards.
The Cavaliers have little time to regroup, as they will return to action on Wednesday at 2pm, when they face Edgewood College (0-8). Tip-off is slated for 2pm.
