25-1 Run Keys Men's Basketball Win over Immaculata

RADNOR, PA - After a tightly contested 18 minutes of action, the Cabrini men's basketball team used a 25-1 run over a span of 7:34 between the first and second halves to pull away from the visiting Immaculata Mighty Macs en route to a 97-74 win at Nerney Field House.

With the win, the Cavaliers improved to 5-2 overall and 3-0 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference.

Eight Cavaliers notched at least seven points in the win.  Junior Tyheim Monroe extended his double-double streak to 34 games, pairing 25 points and 18 rebounds with three blocked shots in 31 minutes.

Classmate Deryl Bagwell nearly recorded a triple double, posting 12 points and eight rebounds to go with career highs of nine assists and four blocked shots.

Sophomore Kwame Dokes added career highs of 12 points and three blocked shots.

The Mighty Macs ran out to an early lead and used a 13-3 spurt to build a 21-11 lead with 12:10 left in the first half.  The Cavaliers turned up their defense and scored 10 straight points, as senior Ryan Charity's steal and dunk evened the score at 21.

The Blue and White carried the momentum and pushed its lead to six and seven points in the frame, but each time, Immaculata had an answer.

Cabrini began to take control of the game in the final two minutes of the half, as it closed the stanza on an 8-0 run to take a 48-38 lead into the halftime break.

The Cavaliers started the second half where it left the first, taking full control of the action. The Blue and White used a 17-1 run over the first 5:46 of the second half to extend its lead to a commanding 65-39.

While Cabrini's field goal percentage fell 10 points to 42.9% in the second half, the Blue and White used its defense to help pull away.  The Mighty Macs shot just 13-35 in the second half and turned the ball over 11 times, resulting in 17 Cabrini points.

The Cavaliers also secured 29 second half rebounds, including eight on the offensive glass, and outscored Immaculata 26-16 in the paint after the break.

Junior Kane McGovern hit 3-5 from three point range for nine points, while Charity and sophomore Ivan Robinson finished with eight points each. Juniors Joe Mostardi and Chris Lawhorn added seven points each.

Freshman Jordan Ambrose led Immaculata (3-4, 2-1 CSAC) with a career high 31 points, while sophomore Cordell Lord added 12 points.

The Blue and White can savor tonight's win for a bit, as it will break for final exams next week before returning to action on Dec. 22, when it visits Div. I Lehigh University.  Tipoff is slated for 7pm at Lehigh's Stabler Arena in Bethlehem, PA.
