Green's Career Night Paces Men's Basketball at Summit

CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa. – The Cabrini men's basketball team found its offensive flow tonight, scoring a season high 110 points in tonight's victory at Summit University.  The 110-83 win improved the club to 10-8 overall and 8-4 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference.

Five Cavaliers scored in double figures in tonight's triumph, led by sophomore Jair Green.  The sophomore posted career highs with 28 points and 12 rebounds, notching his first double-double of the season.  Classmate Deryl Bagwell hit 8-10 from the floor in 22 minutes, scoring 22 points to go with seven rebounds.

Senior Ace Henry hit 5-7 from beyond the three point line, en route to a season high 19 points.  Sophomore Tyheim Monroe extended his season long double-double streak to 18 games, pairing 17 points and 11 boards, while connecting on 6-9 from the floor and 5-5 from the free throw line.  Classmate Ivan Robinson chipped in with 11 points, four steals and six of the club's 21 assists.

The Blue and White scored the first seven points of the game before Robinson's jumper extend the lead to 14-3 less than five minutes into the action. The Defenders battled back, outscoring the Cavaliers 21-11 over the next six plus minutes to pull within 25-24 at the 9:06 mark.

Summit evened the score at 32 before Cabrini responded with five quick points to capture a lead it would not relinquish. The Cavaliers extended their cushion back to 11 points on Monroe's lay-up in the final minute of the period.  Summit responded with a three point play before Robinson found Henry in the paint for a 57-47 halftime lead.

While the Blue and White shot over 50% from the field and committed just two turnovers in the first half, the Defenders stayed within reach on the strength of 8-14 shooting from beyond the three point line.

The Defenders immediately cut Cabrini's lead to five points in the first two minutes of the second half. The Blue and White responded with a 12-0 spurt, with Robinson's lay-up expanding the lead to 69-51 less than five minutes into the stanza.

Cabrini's lead fluctuated between 14-18 points for much of the half, but with just under eight minutes to play, Summit looked to mount a final stand.  The Defenders pulled to within 12 points before back to back Henry triples helped the Blue and White build a 17-2 spurt to seal the win.  Green's fast break dunk punctuated the spurt with the Cavaliers' 100th point of the night.

While the Cavaliers continued their good shooting after the halftime break, they used a better defensive effort to pull away.  Summit shot just 14-33 in the half, including just 3-14 from three point range, and made just seven trips to the charity stripe.

Abe Valentine led the Defenders (2-17, 2-10 CSAC) with 24 points, while Dan Decker paired 13 points and seven rebounds.  Nick Peters and Dwayne Felder combined for 25 points off the bench.

The Cavaliers will celebrate Cabrini Nation Night: #DoBlue on Wednesday when they return to Nerney Field House looking to avenge a loss to Immaculata (7-12, 6-6 CSAC) earlier in the season.  Game time is slated for 8 p.m., following the women's game against Marywood.
