Women's Basketball Grounds Ravens 86-52

RADNOR, Pa. – The Cavaliers rebounded from Wednesday's loss in a big way, as the Cabrini women's basketball team scored an 86-52 win over the visiting Rosemont College Ravens.  With the win, the Blue and White improved to 14-9 overall and 11-3 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference.

With two games remaining in the regular season, the Cavaliers remain in third place tied with Neumann, but owning the tiebreaker.  At 13-1, Gwynedd Mercy and Marywood continue to hold the top spot in the standings.

Six Cavaliers scored at least eight points in today's victory, led by sophomore Kate Skalski's career high 20 points in just 12 minutes.  The sophomore connected on 8-13 from the floor, including 2-5 from three point range.

Senior Dana Peterson paired 12 points and a season high six assists, while freshman Nomi Washington added 12 points off the bench.

Sophomore Sabrina Hackendorn posted her second consecutive double-double, scoring 10 points and grabbing 13 rebounds, including seven on the offensive glass.

After shooting below 30% in Wednesday's loss at Gwynedd Mercy, the Cavaliers found their shooting touch today, connecting on .450 of their field goal attempts.

While Cabrini's offense was clicking on all cylinders, today's victory came on the strength of dominant performances on the glass and defensive end of the floor.  The Cavaliers outrebounded the Ravens 52-39, with 21 offensive boards leading to 17 second change points.  Cabrini also owned a 50-22 advantage in points in the paint.

The Cavaliers forced 27 Rosemont turnovers, the most the Ravens have committed all season, converting the miscues into 33 points, including 18 fast break points.

Cabrini used a 9-2 run midway through the opening quarter to build a 15-9 lead with just over three minutes left in the period.  Back to back Rosemont three pointers snapped the run before the Cavaliers scored the final
five points of the frame to take a 20-12 lead.

The Blue and White pulled away in the second quarter, as it outscord the Ravens 27-11 in the period.  Cabrini opened the quarter on a 13-1 run, culminating with a Washington fast break lay-up. A free throw by senior Mo O'Connell closed the quarter, as the Cavaliers scored the period's final six points to build a 47-23 halftime

Cabrini's hot shooting continued after the break, as the Blue and White shot 60% from the floor in the third quarter.  The Cavaliers closed the third frame on a 12-2 run, including seven by Skalski, who punctuated the period with a three pointer just before the buzzer.

Three Ravens (12-11, 8-6 CSAC) scored in double figures, led by senior Carly Hislop, who posted 11 points, six rebounds and four assists.  Sophomore Jasmyn Parker added 11 points, while classmate Leilani Naone-Carter narrowly missed a double-double with 10 points and nine boards.

Cabrini will celebrate the careers of its four seniors, Meghan Martin, O'Connell, Peterson and Kristina Startare, on Wednesday as it hosts Centenary College (13-10, 8-6 CSAC).  The team will hold a short Senior Night ceremony prior to the 6:30 p.m. tipoff.
