RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini women's lacrosse team used a dominant second half performance to pull away from the visiting Widener University Pride tonight at Edith Robb Dixon Field, as the Cavaliers outscored the Pride 10-3 after the break en route to a 19-8 victory.
The Blue and White evened its record at 2-2, while handing Widener its first loss in four outings.
Sophomore
Sasha Wozniak recorded her second consecutive six point game, to lead eight Cabrini goal scorers. The sophomore paired five goals and an assist to go with two caused turnovers. Junior
Jess Breuning made her presence felt over the entire surface of the pitch, recording three goals, an assist, nine ground balls, a career high eight draw controls and three caused turnovers.

Allie Vallen notched two goals each. Sophomore

Megan Barlow recorded 10 saves to earn the victory.
Vallen put the Blue and White on the board early, as the junior opened the scoring just 31 seconds in the action. The lead was short lived as Widener evened the score just a minute later. The Cavaliers built a slim cushion, as Neary, Lasater and Rodner-Tims scored consecutive unassisted goals to push the lead to 4-1 just six minutes into the game.
Wozniak's first goal of the evening came at the 22:50 mark and was followed by a pair of Widener goals, pulling the Pride within 5-4 midway through the half. The Cavaliers responded in big way, notching four unanswered goals.
It took Cabrini just 35 seconds to regain its two goal lead on a Breuning goal. Minutes later, Wozniak connected with Rodner-Tims. Robinson added an unassisted goal at the 9:41 mark, before Vallen hit Lasater to give Cabrini a 9-4 lead late in the stanza. Widener added a late goal but the Blue and White carried its 9-5 lead into the halftime break.
The Cavaliers turned up the pressure in the second half, opening the stanza with three consecutive goals. Breuning, Wozniak and Robinson recorded unassisted goals in the opening nine minutes of the half, extending the lead to 12-5.
The Pride would not go away, as three consecutive Widener goals pulled the Pride within 12-8 with 16:30 to play.
Cabrini was determined not to let its lead slip away, and it showed on the field. The Cavaliers scored the final seven goals of the night, including three by Wozniak.
The Blue and White recorded 45 shots on the night, the most the team has attempted since the 2013 CSAC Championship game, when it fired 48. A combined 21 of those shots came from Breuning and Wozniak, while Rodner-Tims, Vallen and Neary attempted five each.
Senior Morgan Scott and sophomore Kelsey Powell scored two goals each for Widener (3-1), while senior Meghan Garvey paired a goal and three assists. Junior goaltender Grace Morales posted 10 saves and six ground balls in the loss.
The Cavaliers will return to action on Saturday, when they travel to Scranton, Pa. to face MArywood University (1-4, 1-0 CSAC). The opening draw is slated for 1 p.m.
