Game Recap: Lacrosse (Women) |

Women's Lacrosse Grounds the Ravens with 16-1 Win

RADNOR, Pa. –The Cabrini women's lacrosse team scored early and often today, as the Cavaliers improved to 6-3 overall and a perfect 4-0 in Colonial States Athletic Conference action with today's 16-1 win over the visiting Rosemont College Ravens.

Sophomore Sasha Wozniak scored twice in the opening four minutes of the game and the Blue and White were off and running.  The cushion grew to 5-0 less than 10 minutes into the game and swelled to 13-0 before Rosemont senior Jennifer South converted free position shot for the Ravens' only goal.

Eight Cavaliers marked the scoring column in today's win, led by Wozniak's four goals and two assists. Sophomore Gabby Lee posted a career high three goals in the victory.

Junior Allie Vallen tallied four points and joined classmates Jess Breuning and Katie Lasater with two goals.  Junior Jenn Robinson and sophomores Emily Crouse and Sara Johnsen also found the back of the net.

Freshman Katie Kuccia anchored a defensive effort that caused 22 of Rosemont's 30 turnovers on the day.  The rookie forced five miscues, while Breuning, Lee and senior Mo O'Connell forced three each.

The Blue and White held the Ravens to just 7-23 clear attempts, keeping Rosemont away from many scoring threats.  Cabrini's goaltending duo of junior Megan Barlow and freshman Devon Scharf faced just four shots on the day and recorded one save each.

The Cavaliers also made the most of the game's loose ball situations, claiming 11 of the game's 18 draw controls and securing 34 ground balls.

Bruening recorded six ground balls and a game high four draw controls. Crouse and fellow sophomore Jackie Neary claimed two ground balls each.  Freshman Emma Rodner-Tims scooped a career best seven ground balls.

The Cavaliers recorded 43 shots on the day, including 30 on goal, both among the team's highest numbers of the season.  Wozniak led the way with nine shots, one more than Lee, while Rodner-Tims posted five attempts.

South recorded three shots and controlled three draws for Rosemont (1-9, 0-5 CSAC).  Junior Ali Osorio also claimed three draw controls.  Graduate goaltender Nia Hall notched 16 saves and recorded a team high four ground balls.

The Blue and White will return to action on Wednesday, as it welcomes Keystone College to Edith Robb Dixon Field.  Game time is slated for 4 p.m.
