GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Sixty minutes wasn't enough for a game that saw five ties and four lead changes, but when the final whistle sounded, the Cavaliers' season was over.
The Cabrini men's lacrosse season came to an end today, as the Blue and White suffered an 11-10 overtime loss at No. 5 Gettysburg in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The loss closed Cabrini's season at 15-5, among the most wins in program history.
Today's loss also closes the careers of the Blue and White's 12 seniors, a class that led the program to a 60-17 overall record, including a perfect 26-0 in Colonial States Athletic Conference action, four consecutive conference titles and three NCAA Tournament wins.

Matt Ward combined to record 328 points on 218 goals and 130 assists, 708 ground balls and 197 caused turnovers in 592 appearances in the Blue and White.
Freshmen
Jordan Krug and
Timmy Brooks paced the Cabrini offense today, scoring three goals each, while Krug added an assist. Heisman chipped in with two goals and three points, while freshman
Matt LoParo tallied three helpers.
Schneekloth went 15-23 at the faceoff spot and earned game high honors with six ground balls, one more than junior
Evan Downey.
Ward caused three turnovers, secured two ground balls and scored a goal. Sophomore goaltender
Tyler Morrell recorded eight saves, scooped four ground balls and caused a pair of turnovers.
Gettysburg jumped out to a two goal lead in the game's opening minutes, before Brooks put Cabrini on the board at the 8:34 mark. The Bullets added another first quarter goal to build a 3-1 lead after the first period.
The Blue and White found its offensive rhythm in the second frame, scoring four goals in a span of four minutes. Goals by Krug, Brooks and Bush gave the Cavaliers their first lead of the day at 5-3. Gettysburg responded with back to back goals to even the score at 5-5 at the half.
Gettysburg ran its scoring streak to three, regaining a one goal lead midway through the third frame. Cabrini had an answer, scoring three unanswered goals. Heisman evened the score at six, before hitting Brooks for a man-up goal. After winning the ensuing faceoff, Schneekloth hit Heisman to put the Cavaliers ahead 8-6 with 5:12 left in the period. A late Bullets' goal pulled Gettysburg with 8-7 to open the final stanza.
LoParo hit Krug in the opening minute of the fourth quarter to extend the Blue and White cushion back to two goals. The Bullets responded with back to back goals, including a man-up goal, evening the score at 9-9 with 8:16.
Schneekloth won the next faceoff before Ward secured the loose ball and netted his second goal of the campaign and a 10-9 lead with eight minutes on the clock. Gettysburg didn't waste much time, leveling the score just 38 seconds later.
Both teams created solid scoring chances in the final minutes of the game. The Cavaliers gained possession with less than two minutes to play, but a turnover returned the ball back to Gettysburg. The Bullets controlled the ball for the final 54 seconds of regulation, but Cabrini's defense held firm, holding the Bullets without a shot.
Despite losing the opening faceoff of overtime, Ward immediately caused a turnover and secured the loose ball to give Cabrini possession. A Downey shot went wide before the Blue and White turned the ball over.
Gettysburg successfully cleared the ball before calling a timeout. Just 11 seconds after the timeout, Bullets senior Paul Werner scored the game-winner 1:36 into the extra period.
Werner finished the game with four goals and an assist, while classmate Mike Distler paired three goals and three helpers got Gettysburg (16-2). Senior netminder Jake Adoni recorded 14 saves in the victory.
With the win, Gettysburg advances to Wednesday's national quarterfinal round, where it will face No. 7 York, who topped Washington & Lee 12-5.
