Softball Extends Series at Arcadia with 6-4 Game Two Victory

GLENSIDE, Pa. - The Cabrini softball team made the journey to Arcadia today, where the two teams battled for the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) South championship. Arcadia took game one 10-1 but Cabrini bounced back for a 6-4 win in game two.

As a result of the split, the Blue and White improved to 25-17 on the year, while the Knights improved to 24-19.

Freshman Marissa Alpaugh's second inning RBI single gave Cabrini its only run in the opener, while the Knights scored five runs in the third and fifth innings to claim the dominate game one victory.

The Knights out hit the Cavaliers 12-2, with Alpaugh and senior Kaitlyn Cooper notching the team's only hits.

Junior Kiley Sharp surrendered four earned runs, five total in four innings of action, while freshman Jenna Rodriguez allowed five earned runs and seven hits in one inning in the circle.

The Blue and White and Knights traded runs in the first inning of the night cap, as junior Lindsay Savar's single plated Cooper.

Arcadia took the lead in the second inning, as the Knights scored a run on a pair of hits.

Cooper's RBI double in the third inning evened the score at two, as freshman Darian Caputo crossed home plate.

A big sixth inning put Cabrini up 6-2, as the Blue and White scored four runs on five hits.

Sophomore Emily Smull singled, plating Savar, while junior Amber Dietrich's double scored Alpaugh. Junior Taylor Mack followed with a single to center field, as Smull crossed home plate, and later came home to score on a fielder's choice.

The Blue and White held Acradia to just two runs the rest of the way to extend the series.

The Cavaliers' bats were awake in game two, as the Blue and White notched fourteen hits, including two doubles.

Cooper finished 2-4 at the plate and recorded a game high two RBI, to go along with her 10th double on the year.

Sophomore Jess Giordano improved to 14-6 after tossing her 19th complete game this season. Giordano allowed 10 hits and four earned runs in the win.

The teams will meet in Glenside, Pa. tomorrow for a final game at 10 a.m. to decide the 2016 ECAC South softball champion.
