ALLENTOWN, PA – The struggles continued for the Cabrini volleyball team today, as it suffered a pair of 3-0 losses to close the Buttermaker Invitational at Muhlenberg College.
The Cavaliers lost to DeSales 3-0 (25-20, 25-16, 25-21) to open the day, before dropping its nightcap to Ithaca by the same 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-17). With the losses, the Blue and White close the weekend 0-8 overall.
As the primary setter in the day's first mach, freshman
Emily Stokarski controlled the Cabrini offense to the tune of 20 assists, while sophomore
Emily Shannon tallied eight kills, two more than junior
Anne-Marie Jones. Shannon and fellow sophomore
Kassie Ockford added two services aces and two block assists each. Sophomore
Ashley Shannon earned game-high honors wth 15 digs.
In the nightcap, senior
Kelly Guarino paired eight kills and 13 digs, while Jones notched seven kills. The Shannon sisters matched Guarno's 13 digs, while Stokarski added 17 assists. Junior
Kaylee Plisinski recorded three block assists.
The Cavaliers will open the home portion of their schedule on Thursday, as they host Neumann (1-4) in the Colonial States Athletic Conference opener for both clubs.
The match also marks a rematch of the last five CSAC championship tilts. Four of those five, including the last three, have been won by the Cavaliers.
