Men's Soccer Suffers Heartbreaking 2OT Loss to Rutgers-Camden

RADNOR, PA – The Cabrini men's soccer put on an thrilling match for its home opener tonight at Edith Robb Dixon Field, but did not get the result it wanted.  The Cavaliers suffered a disappointing 1-0 double overtime loss to Rutgers University-Camden.

The Blue and White's second consecutive loss drops the club to 2-3 on the year, while the Raptors improved to 3-0-2.

Both teams splayed a spirited 105 minutes, with the action ranging from end line to end line.  

After a scoreless 90 minutes of regulation, both teams created solid chances in the first overtime period.  The Cavaliers earned a pair of corner kicks in the 10 minute frame and fired three shots, including one that forced a Raptors' save.

Rutgers-Camden record the only two shots of the second overtime session, with the game-winner coming after an Eric Hurff through ball found junior Sean Welsh in the 105th minute.

The Blue and White recorded 11 shots on the night, with senior Bobby Kane and sophomore Matt Ochman recording three each.

Senior goaltender C.J. Serratore suffered the loss despite five saves, including four in the opening 45 minutes.

Cabrini will look to return to the win column on Saturday, as it heads to Reading, PA to face Alvernia University (0-6).  Game time is scheduled for 4:30pm, following the Cabrini vs. Alvernia women's match.
