Men's Soccer Tops Alvernia 1-0

READING, PA – The Cabrini men's soccer team snapped its two game losing streak with today's 1-0 victory at Alvernia University.  The win evened the Blue and White's record at 3-3 on the season.

Senior A.J. Bishop tallied the day's lone goal in the 17th minute, after dribbling down the left flank, beating defenders and notching his fourth goal of the season.

The Cavaliers thwarted four Alvernia first half corner kicks to maintain its slim lead after 45 minutes of action.

Alvernia pressed to even the score, outshooting the Cavaliers 12-5 in the second half and earned four additional corner kicks to just one for Cabrini.

The Crusaders' comeback attempt took a hit in the 86th minute, when a red card forced Alvernia to play the game's final minutes one player short.

Senior Bobby Kane accounted for three of Cabrini's nine shots on the day, while classmate C.J. Serratore notched two second half saves to secure his seventh career shutout.

The Blue and White will look for its first win streak of the season on Wednesday, when it welcomes Albright College (2-4-1) to Edith Robb Dixon Field.  Game time is slated for 6:30pm, following the Cabrini field hockey game against Stevens Institute of Technology.
