RADNOR, PA – The Cabrini men's soccer team could not overcome two early goals, as the Cavaliers suffered a 5-1 loss to Eastern University tonight at Edith Robb Dixon Field.
With the loss, the Blue and White closes its nonconference slate 3-4-1, while Eastern improved to 6-1-1.
The Eagles took advantage of a pair of Cabrini defensive miscues in the ninth and 10th minutes to take an early 2-0 lead.
Despite trailing by two goals, the Cavaliers and Eagles were statistically even through the first half, with Eastern recording one more shot and one more corner kick than Cabrini.
The Cavaliers' deficit grew in the opening minutes of the second half, as Eastern took advantage of a loose ball in the Cavaliers' penalty area, pushing their lead to 3-0 in the 49th minute.
Senior
A.J. Bishop put Cabrini on the board in the 59th minute, converting a long pass from junior
Ben Roda.
Eastern put the game away with a pair of goals in the 72nd and 74th minutes.
Both teams had chances minutes later, as both were awarded penalty kick in a span of 95 seconds but Cabrini's senior goaltender
C.J. Serratore and counterpart Eastern's Quentin Keibler recorded diving saves.
Senior
Bobby Kane accounted for five of Cabirni's 11 shots in the loss, while Bishop recorded three. Serratore finished the night with five saves.
Sophomore Cade Harmon scored both first half goals for Eastern, while Keibler matched Serratore with five stops.
The Blue and White have a few days to prepare for Colonial States athletic conference play, as the Cavaliers will open league action on Saturday, when Centenary University (3-4, 1-0 CSAC) visits Edith Robb Dixon Field. Game time is scheduled for 2:30pm.
