CLAREMONT, CA – The Cabrini volleyball team closed its west coast trip with a pair of losses, falling to 0-4 on the young season. The Blue and White fell to Minnesota-Morris 3-1 before suffering a 3-0 loss to No. 1 California Lutheran at the Pacific Coast Classic.
After taking the first set from Minnesota Morris 25-23, the Cavaliers lost the next three 25-20, 25-23, 25-10.
The Shannon sisters paced the Cavaliers, as both posted double-doubles. Sophomore
Emily Shannon recorded her second career high in as many days with 14 kills and 13 digs, while classmate
Ashley Shannon recorded her first double-double, pairing career bests of 31 assists and 16 digs.
Junior
Anne-Marie Jones added 13 kills, while senior
Kelly Guarino earned team-high honors with 26 digs.
The Blue and White faced a tough task in scoring its first win of the season, as it faced the nation's No. 1 team and defending National Champion in the nightcap, as the Cavaliers suffered a 25-17, 25-13, 25-13 loss to California Lutheran.
Ashley Shannon recorded her second double-double of the day, recording 16 assists and 10 digs. Freshman
Emily Stokarski barely missed the milestone with 11 assists and eight digs.
Guarino posted a match-high 24 digs, while
Emily Shannon led Cabrini with 12 kills.
The Cavaliers will look to regroup next weekend when they head to Allentown for the Muhlenberg College Buttermaker Tournament. Cabrini will face host Muhlenberg and Marymount on Friday, before meeting Ithaca and DeSales on Saturday.
