A.J. Bishop's pass found classmate
Diego Ramirez, whose pass hit Irwin in the middle of the 18-yard box. The sophomore turned, elevated and, with a bicycle kick, put the ball into the net with 10 minutes left on the clock.
DeSales created three late scoring chances, but senior goaltender
C.J. Serratore recorded two of his five saves in the final 12 minutes of action, securing his sixth career shutout.
The stat sheet was indicative of a close game from the opening whistle. Cabrini owned a slight 12-11 advantage in shots, including an 8-6 cushion in shots on goal. DeSales forced four corner kicks to just two for the Cavaliers.
Bishop and Irwin provided the firepower for the Blue and White, as the duo combined for nine of the team's 12 shots, including seven attempts on target.
Javaughn Hussett recorded four shots for DeSales (1-3), while goaltender Ryan O'Neil notched six saves.
The Cavaliers will return to action on Saturday, as they visit Ursinus College (1-1). The opening kickoff is slated for 5pm in Collegeville, PA.
