RADNOR, PA – All 11 Cavaliers who were available for tonight's game marked the scoring column, as the Cabrini men's basketball team scored an 86-60 win over the Clarks Summit University Defenders at Nerney Field House.
With the win, the Blue and White improved to 9-4 overall and 5-1 in the Colonial states Athletic Conference.
Junior
Tyheim Monroe led all scorers with 26 points on 10-14 from the field and 6-7 form the free throw line, to go with 19 rebounds. Fellow junior
DeVahnte Mosley chipped in with 12 points, four assists and a pair of blocked shots.
Sophomore
Kwame Dokes notched 10 and seven boards, while junior
Kane McGovern recorded nine points.
After a slow start, the Cavaliers found their offensive rhythm midway through the first half. Leading 23-19 at the 9:44 mark, a Monroe traditional three point play spurred the Blue and White to a 14-0 run. Mosley hit Dokes for a lay-up with 6:52 left in the stanza that gave Cabrini a commanding 37-19 lead.
The Cavaliers shot just south of 56% in the first half and committed just six turnovers, as they built a 47-28 lead at the break.
The Blue and White used a stifling defensive performance in the second half to remain in control of the action. Cabrini held the Defenders to just 28.9% shooting after the break, including 1-8 from beyond the three point line.
Junior
Joe Mostardi and sophomore
Mike Doyle scored seven points each in the win, while junior
Deryl Bagwell filled the stat sheet with six rebounds, six assists and three steals.
Freshman Kyron Jones led Clarks Summit (1-13, 0-7 CSAC) with 14 points, while classmate Antwan Bradley added 10 points. Fellow rookie Donald Miller paired nine points and a team high eight boards.
The Cavaliers will hit the road on Saturday, as they head north to La Plume, PA to face Keystone College (4-8, 1-5 CSAC). Game time is slated for 3pm.
