BALTIMORE, MD – The Cavaliers recorded their fourth consecutive win tonight, scoring a 78-57 win at Notre Dame of Maryland University. With the win, the Blue and White improved to 6-0 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference and 8-7 overall.
Four Cavaliers scored in double figures in the win, led by junior
Myonie Williamson's 17 points.
Sophomore
Nomi Washington posted her first career double-double, pairing 15 points and a career high 11 rebounds. The sophomore's five assists and five steals also marked career bests.
Freshman
Meghan Matthews and junior
Kate Skalski added 11 points each in the victory.
Senior
Renee Oliver controlled the paint, securing a career high 14 rebounds, her fifth consecutive game with at least 10 boards.
Despite building an early lead the Cavaliers lost their offensive touch late in the first quarter. Cabrini mustered just four points in the final four minutes of the period, allowing the Gators to even the score at 15 after 10 minutes of play.
The game remained tied at 20 midway through the second quarter, when the Blue and White began to pull away.
A Skalski three pointer spurred the Cavaliers to a 15-2 run over the final 4:42 of the half. Five Cavaliers scored during the spurt, with Matthews' lay-up giving Cabrini a 35-22 lead at the half.
The Cabrini lead hovered between 13-17 from much of the third quarter, but Notre Dame mounted a late challenge. The Gators pulled within 49-40 with 3:42 left in the period, but the Cavaliers squashed the comeback over the next two minutes.
A Washington triple sparked the Cavaliers to an 11-0 run over the next two minutes, pushing their cushion to 60-40 with less 109 seconds left in the frame. A pair of Matthews free throws gave Cabrini a 64-42 lead heading into the final quarter.
Freshman
Erin Dodds notched nine points for the Cavaliers, while freshman
Cassidy Gallagher and junior
Caroline Price combined for 11 points and six assists.
Zaria Comer paired 16 points, eight rebounds and three blocked shots for Notre Dame (4-8, 2-4 CSAC), while Stephanie Roche added 10 points and five boards.
The Blue and White will look to extend their CSAC win streak on Saturday, when they head north to Keystone College (5-9, 4-2 CSAC). Game time is slated for 1pm in La Plume, PA.
