LA PLUME, PA – The Cabrini women's basketball team extended its win streak to five games and improved to 7-0 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference today, as the Cavaliers scored a 59-48 victory at Keystone College.
Freshman
Erin Dodds led all scorers with 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds, as the Blue and White improved to 9-7 overall. Senior
Renee Oliver tallied her fifth double-double of the season, pairing 12 points and 10 boards.
Cabrini got off to a slow start, scoring just 10 first quarter points. The Giants scored nine of the final 11 points of the period, as the Cavaliers went scoreless over the final 3:43 of the quarter. Keystone turned an 8-8 tie into a 17-10 lead after the first quarter.
The Blue and White regained its form in the second quarter, outscoring Keystone 18-4. Oliver and junior
Kate Skalski combined for 12 second quarter points, as the Cavaliers carried a 28-21 lead into the half.
The Cavaliers maintained a comfortable lead throughout the third quarter, as their advantage floated between seven and 13 points.
Cabrini did not let-up in a low scoring fourth quarter. The teams combined to score just 20 points in the 10 minute period, but the Blue and White kept its double figure lead for all but 17 seconds of the final period.
Skalski finished the day with nine points, while freshman
Meghan Matthews added eight points and five rebounds.
Hannah Zuchowski led Keystone (5-10, 4-3 CSAC) with 14 points and six rebounds in 15 minutes of the bench.
Cabrini will return to the hardwood on Wednesday, when the Cavaliers visit Cairn University (4-8, 1-5 CSAC). Tipoff is scheduled for 6pm.
