Strong 4th Quarter Seals Women's Basketball Win at Cairn

LANGHORNE, PA – The Cavaliers used a dominant fourth quarter performance to extend its win streak to six games, as it scored a 73-55 win at Cairn University.  The victory improved Cabrini to 10-7 overall and 8-0 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference.

The Blue and White held a slim 52-46 lead with 10 minutes to play, before outscoring the Highlanders 21-9 in the final period.  The Cavaliers held Cairn to just 2-11 shooting from the field in the fourth quarter with five turnovers to seal the victory.

Sophomore Nomi Washington paced the Cabrini offense, matching a career high with 23 points on 10-18 shooting to go with nine rebounds. Freshman Erin Dodds hit four of eight three point attempts, scoring 19 points and a career best eight rebounds.

Junior Myonie Williamson chipped in with 15 points, while freshman Cassidy Gallagher stuffed the stat sheet with six points, five assists, four rebounds and two steals.

Despite owning a five point lead in the first quarter, the Cavaliers could not pull away from the Highlanders.  The teams exchanged the lead three times in the opening stanza, as the Blue and White held a slim 15-14 lead after 10 minutes of action.

The Blue and White maintained its one possession lead through the second quarter. Cairn evened the score at 21 midway through the period, but Cabrini rebuilt its four point lead just two minutes later on a Gallagher three pointer.  The rookie hit Williamson on the final possession of the half, to send Cabrini into the break with a 30-26 lead.

Cabrini began to extend its cushion in the opening minutes of the third quarter, opening the frame with an 11-4 spurt.  Williamson's lay-up pushed the Cavaliers lead to 41-30 just over two minutes into the period. The Highlanders battled back, chiseling their deficit to four points late in the stanza before trailing by six after three quarters.

The Cavaliers pushed their lead back to double digits midway through the fourth quarter.  Cairn pulled within 63-55 with 2:24 to play, but the Blue and White scored the game's final 10 points to eliminate any thought of a Highlanders' comeback.

After shooting south of 36% from the floor in the first half, the Cavaliers found their shooting touch during the break, as they connected on 64.3% of their field goal attempts in the second half.

Aigner Bookard led Cairn (4-10, 1-6 CSAC) with 16 points, while Kendra Stum paired 10 points, five rebounds and four assists.

Cabrini looks to stay perfect in the CSAC on Saturday, as it welcomes Marywood University (10-6, 6-1 CSAC) to Nerney Field House.  The 2pm tip-off also marks the program's annual Alumni Day.
