Men's Basketball Extends Win Streak with Victory at Cairn

LANGHORNE, PA – Four Cavaliers scored in double figures tonight, as the Cabrini men's basketball team scored a 74-65 win at Cairn University.  The team's fourth consecutive win improved it to 11-4 overall and 7-1 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference.

Junior Tyheim Monroe led all scorers with 22 points and a game high 18 rebounds, while classmate DeVahnte Mosley added 18 points on 6-10 shooting from the floor.

Fellow junior Deryl Bagwell recorded his first career double-double, pairing 10 points and a career high 10 rebounds. Senior Ryan Charity chipped in with 12 points off the bench.

The Cavaliers went scoreless for more than three minutes to open the action, as the Highlanders opened an early six point lead.  Cabrini responded with a 17-2 run, with a pair of Bagwell free throws pushing the Blue and White lead to 22-13 with 6:48 left in the half.

The lead swelled to 10 points two minutes later, as the Cavaliers carried a 30-22 lead at the half, despite shooting just 36% from the floor in the opening 20 minutes.

An early steal and jumper by Bagwell in the first minute of the second half gave Cabrini a double figure cushion it would not relinquish. The Cavaliers shot 15-30 from the field as their lead ranged between a comfortable 10-15 points.

The Blue and White forced the issue in the second half, making 17 trips to the free throw line in the second half, connecting on 13 of those attempts.

Monroe and Mosley took control of the action, combining for 29 second half points on a combined 10-16 shooting from the field and 9-10 from the free throw line.

Cabrini controlled the painted area in tonight's win, outrebounding the Highlanders 44-31, with the Cavaliers' 15 offensive rebounds leading to 17 second chance points.  The Blue and White also outscored Cairn 40-28 in the paint.

Gerroid Doughty II led Cairn (3-12, 1-8 CSAC) with 17 points, while Jeremiah Harris and Seil Park combined for 22 points off the bench.

The Cavaliers will return to Nerney Field House on Saturday, as they host Marywood University (3-13, 3-6 CSAC).  The 4pm tip-off will also mark the program's annual Alumni Day and will be followed by the program's alumni game at 6pm.
