Men's Basketball Cruises to 85-67 Win over Marywood

RADNOR, PA – The Cabrini men's basketball team extended its win streak to five games with today's 85-67 win over Marywood University.  With the victory, the Blue and White improved to 12-4 overall and 8-1 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference.

Junior Tyheim Monroe paired 24 points and 13 rebounds, while classmate DeVahnte Mosley added 15 points, seven rebounds and five assists.  Senior Ryan Charity chipped in with 12 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals.

Despite leading much of the first half, the Cavaliers could not find their offensive rhythm.  The game remained tight until junior Deryl Bagwell hit Monroe for a lay-up that sparked a 7-0 lead and a 29-19 lead with less than five minutes left in the half.

The lead grew as high as 34-23, as the Blue and White carried a 34-25 lead into the halftime break.

A Bagwell jumper on Cabrini's first possession of the second half pushed the lead back to double figures.  The remained at least 10 points for the entire second half, except for one 14 second span when the Pacers pulled within 47-38.

Junior Kane McGovern found sophomore Ivan Robinson for a three pointer on the Blue and White's next possession to regain the double digit cushion.

After struggling with its shooting touch in the first half, Cabrini found the range in the second half, connecting on 54.8% from the field and 5-10 from three point range.  The Blue and White also recorded a 19 assists on its 28 made field goals, its second highest assist total of the season.

The Cavaliers maintained their defensive intensity throughout the 40 minutes of action, forcing 20 Marywood turnovers, including 10 steals.

Kane hit all three of his three pointers en route to 11 points, while freshman Keith Blassingale added nine points. Bagwell stuffed the stat sheet with eight points, five rebounds and three assists.

Sophomore Connor Shroyer led the Pacers (3-14, 3-7 CSAC) with 19 points off the bench, while classmate Jeremy Ringland added 11 points.

The Cavaliers have little time to enjoy today's win, as they will host Centenary University (9-7, 5-4 CSAC) on Monday.  Game time is slated for 7pm at Nerney Field House.
