IMMACULATA, PA – Junior
Tyheim Monroe entered the Cabrini record book tonight, as the Cabrini men's basketball team scored a 98-74 victory at Immaculata University.
The win extended the Cavaliers' win streak to seven games and improved to 10-1 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference and 14-4 overall.
Monroe led the Blue and White in tonight's win, pairing 17 points and 19 rebounds. The junior's efforts on the glass gave him 913 career rebounds, breaking the program's career rebound record of 906, previously held by Aaron Walton-Moss.
Fellow junior
Deryl Bagwell fell just shy of a triple double, recording 15 points, 11 rebounds, eight assists and four steals.
DeVahnte Mosley joined his classmates with a double-double, pairing 14 points and 11 boards.
Freshman
Keith Blassingale made the most of his 11 minutes of action, as the rookie hit all nine of his shots on the night, going 5-4 from the field, including 3-3 from three point range, for a career high 17 points.
The Cavaliers took a slim early lead, but despite expanding its lead as high as nine points, the Blue and White could not pull away. That changed over the final eight minutes of the first half, as Cabrini put the game out of reach.
Cabrini held the Mighty Macs scoreless over the final 6:51 of the first half, closing the half on a 14-0 run. Immaculata went 0-12 from the field, 0-5 from the free throw line and committed four turnovers, as the Blue and White built a 40-21 halftime lead.
The Cavaliers never allowed the Mighty Macs to mount a serious challenge in the second half. Cabrini shot 50% from the field and connected on 5-11 from three point range.
As efficient as Cabrini's offense was, its defense was just as dominant. The Cavaliers held the Mighty Macs to just 33.8% shooting, including 8-33 from three point range, and converted 18 Immaculata turnovers into 25 points. The Mighty Macs also struggled from the charity stripe, hitting just 12-26.
Sophomore
Ivan Robinson added nine points, one more than
Kane McGovern, while senior
Ryan Charity chipped in with seven points.
Senior Roy Farrell led Immaculata (8-10, 6-5 CSAC) with 18 points and 11 rebounds, while Mike Piekarski paired 11 points and 11 boards.
Cabrini will look for its second win over Centenary (10-8, 6-5 CSAC), as it will visit Hackettstown, NJ on Saturday at 4pm.
