Monroe, Bagwell Lead Cavaliers to 77-63 Win at Centenary

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ – Juniors Tyheim Monroe and Deryl Bagwell posted double-doubles to lead the Cabrini men's basketball team to a 77-63 win at Centenary, the team's eighth consecutive victory.

The Cavaliers' second triumph over the Cyclones this week improved the Blue and White to 15-4 overall and 11-1 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference.

Monroe narrowly missed reaching career highs today, pairing 34 points and 19 rebounds.  The junior shot 13-21 from the floor and 7-12 from the free throw line to go with three assists and a steal.

Bagwell tallied 11 points and a career best 13 rebounds for his third consecutive double-double and fourth in the last five games.

With the score tied at 17 with eight minutes left in the first half, the Cavaliers began to put some distance between themselves and the Cyclones. The Blue and White went on a 14-3 run over the next five minutes, as an offensive rebound and put back by junior DeVahnte Mosley gave Cabrini a 31-20 lead.

The Cavaliers posted just two points in the final two minutes of the half, as Centenary pulled within 36-29 at the half.

The Cyclones pulled within five points early in the second half, but the Cavaliers eliminated the threat, pushing their lead back to double figures.  Cabrini maintained its comfortable double digit cushion for most of the remainder of the day, including the final 10 minutes of the game.

Despite shooting just south of 40% from the field and 2-16 from three point range, the Blue and White used a defensive focus and paint domination to secure today's win.

Cabrini held Centenary to just 35.9% shooting, including 8-28 from three point range, and forced 16 turnovers.  The Cavaliers also outrebounded the Cyclones 59-37 and owned a +22 advantage in points in the paint.

Mosley finished the day wth 11 points and six boards, while freshman Keith Blassingale added eight points. Senior Ryan Charity secured nine rebounds in the win.

Jake Logue led the Cyclones (10-, 6-6 CSAC) with 19 points, while Rashaan Spencer tallied 18 points.

The Cavaliers will look to extend their streak on Wednesday, when they visit Rosemont College (10-9, 8-4 CSAC).  Game time is set for 8pm in Rosemont, PA.
