BETHANY, WV –
The Cabrini swim teams closed their regular seasons today with a tri-meet at Bethany College.  The Blue and White men topped the host Bisons 137-49, while the women downed Bethany 187-40 and fell to Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference foe Franciscan 161-155.

The Cavaliers won 11 of the men's events at today's meet, with sophomore Ryan Brong, junior Ryan Hagan and senior Hassan Goines earning two victories each.

Brong paired wins in the 200 yard butterfly (2:11.33) and 100 yard butterfly (59.07) with a second place finish in the 100 yard backstroke.

Goines scored triumphs in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:07.17) and 200 yard individual medley (2:15.28).

Hagan added wins in the 50 yard and 100 yard freestyle events, reaching the wall in 23.83 and 53.73, respectively.

Senior Chris Moore outreached Brong in the 100 yard backstroke (1:03.12), before finishing second in the 200 yard backstroke.

The trio also anchored Cabrini's relay efforts, bookending the meet with a pair of wins. Senior Robert Schmidt and junior Nicholas Vivian joined Goines and Hagan for a win in the 400 yard medley relay (3:59.11), the day's first event, while Moore, Vivian, Schmidt and Goines ended the day with a win in the 800 yard freestyle relay (8:15.70).

Senior Christina Melchiorre and freshman Katherine Buckman paced the Cabrini women, combining for five victories.  Melchiorre earned three of those wins, capturing the 50 yard freestyle (26.01), 100 yard freestyle (56.89) and 200 yard freestyle (2:09.39).

Buckman reached the wall first in both the 100 yard backstroke (1:09.70) and the 200 yard backstroke (2:24.69).

Junior Brooke Hagan and freshman Lauren Finnegan paired first and second places.  Hagan scored a win in the 1,000 yard freestyle (12:13.53) and finished second in the 200 yard individual medley, while Finnegan paired 500 yard freestyle (5:39.57) triumph with a second place finish in the 100 yard freestyle.

Like the men, the women posted a pair of relay victories as well.  Freshman Ashley Moore joined Melchiorre, Buckman and Finnegan to record a win in the 400 yard medley relay (4:30.51), while Hagan and Finnegan teamed with senior Allie Stein and sophomore Marissa Loro to win the 800 yard freestyle relay (9:03.36).

The Cavaliers will not turn their collective focus to the AMCC championship meet. The three day meet is scheduled for Feb. 9-11 at Penn State Behrend's Junker Center in Erie, Pa.
