SCRANTON, PA – The Cabrini swim teams opened their 2017-18 seasons in impressive fashion today at the University of Scranton. The men and women fell to the host Royals 137-62 and 150-52, respectively. Both teams also claimed victory over Fairleigh Dickinson-Florham 110-76 and 110-79.
A pair of newcomers led the Blue and White men, as freshman
Cameron Mousley and and sophomore
Matt Schaeffer combined for three individual wins and a second place finish.
Mousley opened his collegiate career with wins in the 500- and 1,000-yard freestyle events, reaching the wall in 5:10.53 and 10:46.54.
Schaeffer scored a win in the 100-yard individuals medley in 56.96 and placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:04.04.
The men's team added a pair of third place finishes in relay events. The quartet of freshman

Ryan Brong and freshman
Nick Conroy posted a time of 1:42.28 in the 200-yard medley, the first event of the season.
The team closed the day with a time of 1:40.69 in the 200-yard freestyle relay, as Brong, freshman
Kurt Schuehler and Mousley were joined by freshman
Jacob Montenegro for a third place finish.
Sophomore
Lauren Finnegan picked up where she ended last season, scoring a victory in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:03.98. The sophomore also finished second in the 500-yard freestyle, posting a time of 5:41.68.
Freshman
Tori DeLusant added a third place finish in the 100-yard freestyle, reaching the wall in 059.82 seconds.
Like the men, the women closed the day with a top finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Senior
Candace Brown, sophomore
Katherine Buckman, Delusant and Finnegan teamed to score a second place finish in a time of 1:48.35 in the day's final event.
Cabrini will return to training before making the long trip to Pitt-Bradford on Saturday. The dual meet is scheduled to begin at 1pm.
