Radnor, PA - The Cabrini women's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw this evening as neither team could secure the game winning goal after 110 minutes of play. With the tie, the Cavs record moves to 8-2-4 on the season, while the Shorewomen picked up their first tie of the year and end the night at 7-7-1 overall.
The Shorewomen controlled the tempo throughout, peppering senior keeper
Gabby LeGendre to the tune of 28 shots, 11 of which came on goal, while also holding a 9-2 advantage in corner kicks. The Blue and White managed seven shots, tied for their fewest total on the season.
Senior
Taylor Tralie led the group in shots with four and two coming on goal, while freshman
Avery Murphy and sophomores
Payton Greene and
Diana VanSickle recorded a shot a piece.
The Shorewomen led off the scoring in the 40th minute when junior Olivia Sabatino found classmate Steph Scott inside the six yard box for the 1-0 lead. Washington College would ride that lead into the second stanza until Greene lined up a well struck corner from Tralie and headed it past the keeper for the equalizer in the 56th minute.
Washington College continued to pressure the Cavs as they racked up 12 more shots over the next 54 minutes of play, compared to the Cavs three, but were unable to find the net thanks to solid defense and keeper work.
The Blue and White also had to say goodbye to their seven seniors on the evening, as
Gabby LeGendre,
Brittany Runyen,
Kelsee Tironi,
Taylor Tralie,
Alex Petrongolo,
Sam Penecale and
Marisa Christensen played their last regular season home game under the lights.
As a group, they led Cabrini to 43 victories, including a 25-2-5 record in conference games and two CSAC championships. In their 333 total games, they have accumulated 37 goals, 29 assists and 111 saves.
