BRADFORD, PA – The Cabrini swim teams opened Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference action today, with a trip to the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford.
The ladies scored a convincing 194-43 victory, while the men suffered a 139-117 loss.
The Blue and White women dominated the action from the day's first event, winning each of the 14 events, including sweeps in the 50-yard breaststroke, 100-yard butterfly, 100 yard freestyle and the 200-yard individual medley.
Freshman
Tori DeLusant led the Cavaliers with three individual event wins. The rookie scored victories in the 200-yard freestyle (2:09.68), 100-yard freestyle (1:0.23) and 200-yard IM (2:26.59).
Senior
Candace Brown and sophomore
Lauren Finnegan also claimed victories in multiple events. Brown won the 100-yard butterfly (1:05.25) and 50-yard butterfly (29.05), while Finnegan win the 50-yard freestyle (26.93) and 500-yard freestyle (5:42.80).
Cabrini's relay teams also bookended the meet with wins. Brown and Finnegan joined freshmen
Kelly Schuehler and
Meghan Reguera to open the meet with a victory in the 200-yard medley relay. The duo also joined senior
Brooke Hagan and freshman
Amber Garrison for a winning time in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
Sophomore
Matt Schaeffer and freshman
Cameron Mousley led the Blue and White men with two individual event wins each.
After winning the 100-yard individual medley last week at Scranton, Schaeffer posted a record breaking performance in the 200-yard individual medley, as his time of 2:03.87 broke the previous mark by more than 1.4 seconds. The sophomore also won the 100 yard breaststroke in 1:03.62.
For the second consecutive week, Mousley won both the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:43.26) and 500-yard freestyle (5:11.63).
The Cavaliers will open their home schedule on Saturday, as they host King's College. The event will begin at 1pm at the Dixon Center Pool.
