Men's Soccer Extends Streak with 2-0 Win at Keystone

LA PLUME, PA – The Cabrini men's soccer team scored its third consecutive victory tonight, as the Cavaliers topped Keystone College 2-0 in La Plume, PA.

With the win, the Blue and White improved to 3-7-1 overall and 3-0 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference.  The loss dropped the Giants to 6-4-1 overall and 1-1-1 in league play.

After 42 scoreless minutes of action, the Cavaliers opened the scoring in the 43rd minute, as freshman Josh Cunningham four sophomore Kostas Slikas for a 10 yard blast.  The goal marked the first of the season for Slikas, while the assist marked Cunningham's first career point.

Despite recording just four first half shots and one corner kick, the Blue and White carried its slim 1-0 lead onto the halftime break.

Keystone pressed to even the scoring in the opening minutes of the second stanza, recording five of its nine second half corner kicks in the first 12 minutes of the half.

While Cabrini's defense held firm, the Cavaliers added to the scoreboard in the 64th minute, as a throw-in from junior Matt Ochman found sophomore Andre Justin.  Justin's first goal of the season put the Blue and White ahead 2-0.

The Cavaliers' defensive effort kept the Giants at bay, as just one of its five shots in the final 25 minutes of action reached the Blue and White's sophomore goaltender Mike Gould.

Gould recorded three saves to earn his third shutout of the season, while Cunningham led the Cavaliers with three of its 14 shots.  Slikas and Justin were among a quintet of Cavaliers to add two shots each.

Talhah Netherlin accounted for four of Keystone's 14 shots, while goaltender Malcolm Moreira notched four saves in the loss.

The Blue and White will look to continue its winning ways on Saturday, as it visits Centenary University (3-4-1, 2-0 CSAC). Game time is scheduled for 3:30pm in Hackettstown, NJ.
