Cavs Advance to Semifinal with 4-3 Win Over Immaculata

Radnor, PA - The Cabrini women's soccer team advanced to Wednesday's CSAC semifinal matchup with a 4-3 victory over the visiting Immaculata Mighty Macs.

Cabrini raced out to an early 2-0 lead after senior Brittany Runyen and freshman Avery Murphy tallied goals in the first and eighth minute. Senior Taylor Tralie played helper on both goals as she delivered a timely pass to Runyen just inside the box for the 1-0 advantage, then followed it up in the eighth minute with a shot of her own that Murphy was able to collect on the rebound and push past the Mighty Mac keeper.

Immaculata sophomore Riley Rudd cut the deficit in half with her goal in the 19th minute. Classmate Erin McCue was good for the assist.

Cabrini responded just five minutes later, however as Tralie broke free behind the defense and found herself in a one-on-one with Immaculata senior keeper Allie Tracey. Tracey played the ball aggressively and took out Tralie inside the box, resulting in a PK for the Cavs. Tralie's PK attempt was true and gave the Cavs the 3-1 lead.

The score remained unchanged as both teams reached intermission.

The Mighty Macs came out of the half and immediately pushed the ball into their offensive end where freshman Carley Peacher took advantage of a loose ball and was able to push it past senior keeper Gabby LeGendre

Tralie added a key insurance goal in the 71st minute off of a pass from Murphy. The goal proved to be monumental as the Cavs defense misplayed a ball in the 86th minute that resulted in an own goal.

The Blue and White were able to ride out the last four minutes of the Mighty Macs' attack and hold onto the 4-3 victory.

Cabrini held a 19-8 advantage in shots, ultimately putting 13 of those shots on goal.

As mentioned, the Cavs will next travel to Centenary University for the CSAC semifinal. Wednesday's game time is slated for 2pm.
