FREDERICKSBURG, VA – The Cabrini men's basketball team could not find its shooting touch today, as the Cavaliers suffered a 90-70 loss to Denison University in the opening game of the Hyatt Place Tipoff Tournament at the University of Mary Washington.
The Blue and White (1-1) will face the loser of Saturday's second game between the host Eagles and Randolph College in tomorrow's consolation game. Tip is slated for 1pm.
Cabrini connected on just 34.4% of its field goals today, including 6-25 from three point range. Today's field goal percentage marks the team's lowest since January 20, 2016, while its 22 made field goals are its lowest since January 29, 2017.

Tyheim Monroe and
Deryl Bagwell accounted for 58 of the team's 70 points in the loss.
In just his second career start, Blassingale posted a career best 25 points, connecting on 8-14 from the field with four three pointers. Bagwell paired 17 points and nine boards, with 14 points coming in the second half, while Monroe tallied another double-double with 16 points and 14 rebounds.
Cabrini built an early lead, as a Monroe triple put the Cavaliers ahead 13-8 at the 14:35 mark. Minutes later, the Big Red responded with an 8-0 run to take a 20-16 lead and never looked back.
While the Blue and White kept the game close for much of the half, Denison pulled away at the end of the first, scoring the final eight points of the stanza to take a 46-35 lead into the half.
The Cavaliers could not cut their deficit to single digits, as they shot just 33.3% in the second half. Meanwhile, the Big Red took advantage, connecting on 15-31 from the field, including 4-10 from three point range.
Maxwell Siwik led Denison (2-0) with 19 points off the bench, while Matt Doyle paired 13 points and seven boards.
