Radnor, PA - The Cabrini women's basketball team was never able to find their offensive rhythm tonight against the visiting University of Scranton Royals and ultimately fell to the No. 16 ranked team in the country by a 57-41 final.
Stifling defense from the visitors proved to be the difference as they held the Cavs to just under 26% shooting and outrebounded the Blue and White 37-29.
Junior
Nomi Washington paced the Cavaliers' offense as she tallied a game high 14 points and added eight rebounds.
Kate Lannon notched her third straight game with at least 10 points as the freshman paired 12 points and six boards across 28 minutes.
After a tight first quarter that ended with the Cavs holding a 15-12 lead, the No. 16 ranked Royals rattled off a deflating 18-4 run across the entire second quarter to flip the script and head into the half with a 30-19 lead. Royals' sophomore Makenzie Mason led the charge during the second quarter run as she recorded all nine of her first half points in the second quarter alone.
The second half featured another large run for the visitors as they extended their lead to 43-25 heading into the final stanza. A late charge from the Blue and White pulled them to within 13 points with eight minutes to go, but the Royals were able to fend off the hosts and ride out the fourth quarter to the aforementioned 57-41 final.
Sophomore
Meghan Matthews and freshman
Lexi Edwards chipped in six points and five points, respectively.
Mason finished with a team high 13 points and narrowly missed picking up the double-double with nine rebounds for the Royals, while senior Katie Feehery notched her first double-double of the year with 10 points and 10 boards.
With the loss the Cavaliers' record drops to 2-2 on the young season. They will look to get back on track as they host Immaculata University in the CSAC opener this Saturday at 1pm.
