STEUBENVILLE, OH – The Cabrini swim teams closed the 2017 calendar year with a dominant performance at Franciscan University. The Blue and White women downed the host Barons 133-79 and beat Bethany College 148-29, while the men topped Bethany 127-42.
In total, the Cavaliers won 15 of the day's 26 events and swept the top three spots in a trio of events.
Freshman
Cameron Mousley accounted for two of the Blue and White men's eight individual event victories. The rookie captured the 500-yard freestyle (5:08.01) and the 1000-yard freestyle (11:27.09), while senior Nicholas Erick finished second.
Junior
Ryan Brong and freshmen
Nick Conroy,
Sean Devlin and
Luke McDevitt paired a victory and a second place finish on the day. Brong's time of 2:14.09 bested Conroy in the 200-yard butterfly, while the junior finished behind sophomore
Matt Schaeffer (2:01.76) in the 200-yard individual medley.
Conroy (1:58.14) and Devlin went 1-2 in the 200-yard freestyle, while Devlin's 2:34.8 was good for a win in the 200-yard breaststroke.
McDevitt led a Cabrini sweep in the 50-yard freestyle, as his time of 24.04 bested freshman
Jacob Montenegro and sophomore
Alex Maiorana. Montenegro and Maiorana also finished second and third in the 100-yard freestyle, as senior
Ryan Hagan won the event in 54.0 seconds.
Sophomore
Lauren Finnegan and senior
Candace Brown paced the Cabrini women, scoring a pair of victories each. The sophomore's winning time of 11:53.87 bested junior
Marissa Loro in the 1,000-yard freestyle, while her 1:00.54 in the 100-yard freestyle led a 1-2-3 sweep with freshman
Amber Garrison and senior
Kristen Murphy.
Brown posted a winning time of 5:42.67 in the 500-yard freestyle, while she beat out Garrison in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 26.79.
Senior
Brooke Hagan also notched a win in the 200-yard freestyle, reaching the wall in 2:14.44.
The Blue and White men and women opened the day's action on a high note, winning both the women's and men's 200-yard medley relays.

Tori DeLusant posted a winning time of 2:06.53. Freshman
Kurt Schuehler, Schaeffer, McDevitt and Hagan combined for a winning time of 1:47.36 in the men's race.
The Cavaliers will turn their focus to final exams and training before returning to action on Jan. 12, when they visit Ursinus College. The action will get underway at 6pm in Collegeville, PA.
