RADNOR, PA – The Cabrini men's lacrosse team opened its 2017 slate with a 13-10 victory over the Haverford College Fords today at Edith Robb Dixon Field. Today marks the Blue and White's sixth consecutive season opening win.
The Cavaliers got a balanced scoring effort, as six players marked the scoring column. Freshman
Tyler Kostack made the most of his first collegiate game, pairing three goals and three assists. Senior
Evan Downey and sophomore
Timmy Brooks added three goals each.

Nicholas Waligurski paired a goal and two helpers.

Riley Michaels went 9-20 at the faceoff spot and secured a team high seven ground balls, one more than freshman

Matt Nestler tallied 14 saves to earn his first career victory. The Cabrini defense stood tall in today's win, forcing nine turnovers, including two each by senior

The Blue and White took an early lead as Kostack found Downey for the season's first goal just 49 seconds in the action. Freshman
Jake Klein hit Brooks at the 8:41 mark to double the lead.
Haverford got on the board three minutes, later, but Brooks and Downey scored late in the stanza to give the Cavaliers a 5-1 lead after 15 minutes.
The lead swelled to 7-1, as Downey, sophomore
Bill Morgan, and Brooks marked the scorebook in the opening 3:30 of the second quarter. Despite being outshot 21-16, the Cavaliers carried a 7-2 lead into the break.
Haverford opened the third period scoring before the first of Kostack's three second half goals. The Blue and White extended its lead to 10-4 late in the third, as Krug and Kostack lit the scoring lamp.
The neither team scored in the first seven minutes of the fourth, but they combined for nine goals in the final eight minutes.
Haverford netted three goals in 1:42 to pull within 10-7 with 6:13 to play. Kostack hit Waligurski for a goal with 4:05 left to briefly stop the Fords' run.
Haverford answered 10 seconds later to pull within three again. Kostack completed his hat trick with 73 seconds to play, but the Fords, would not go away quietly.
The Fords added two late goals, sandwiching a Krug score, but Cabirni's lead was too great to overcome.
Junior Jack Sollee and sophomore Ben Frost scored two goals each for the Fords (0-1), while sophomores Garet Trucksess and Stephen DeLeo paired a goal and an assist. Sophomore netminder Dylan Slack recorded nine saves.
The Cavaliers will return to action on Saturday, when they head south to Lynchburg College (1-1). Game time is slated for 1pm in Lynchburg, VA.
