What's at stake?
In the Colonial States opener, both teams will try to get an early leg up in the league standings.  

Cabrini, the preseason CSAC favorite, is riding a 40 game conference win streak, one that dates back to a 16-5 loss to Marywood on March 17, 2012.

Last Meeting: Cabrini 15, Marywood 7 (3/19/16, Scranton, PA)
The Cavaliers scored the first six goals of the game and cruised to a 15-7 road win.  Marywood recorded four goals in the final 6:19 of the opening stanza to pull within 7-4 at the break, but the Blue and White opened the second half as it did the first, posting eight unanswered goals to pull away.

Senior Allie Vallen and junior Jackie Neary scored four goals each, while senior Jess Breuning and juniors Sasha Wozniak and Emily Crouse scored twice. Breuning added seven draw controls and five ground balls, while Neary chipped in with three caused turnovers.

Junior Katrina Kelly and sophomore Ashley Valway scored three goals each for the Pacers.  Senior Natalie Burke and junior Caitlin Watson anchored the defensive effort with three ground balls, four draw controls and four caused turnovers each.

Cabrini Last Time Out: Defeated Widener 16-7 (3/16/17, Radnor, PA)
After a nine day layoff, Cabrini was rested and invigorated, as it ran to an 11-3 halftime lead en route to a 16-7 win over Widener at Edith Robb Dixon Field. With the score tied 2-2, the Blue and White went on a 12-1 run over the two halves, as it outshot the Pride 47-17.

Wozniak led the Cavaliers with five goals, while sophomore Avery Murphy tallied five points on three goals and two assists to go with eight draw controls, five ground balls and four caused turnovers.

Fellow sophomore Liz Hoeffner added three goals and an assist, while Breuning stuffed the stat sheet with two goals, an assist, seven ground balls, five caused turnovers and three draw controls.

The Blue and White also forced a season high 17 turnovers and secured a season high 30 ground balls. The quartet of sophomores Emma Rodner-Tims and Katie Kucia, Crouse and junior Megan McLoughlin caused two turnovers each, while 13 different Cavaliers recorded at least one ground ball.

Marywood Last Time Out: Defeated Lycoming 12-10 (3/13/17, Scranton, PA)
The Pacers scored three goal in a span of 2:40 late in the second half to build a four goal cushion with four minutes to play, before holding on for a 12-10 win over Lycoming on Monday.  Neither team led by two goals until junior Sam Bussinelli's goal began the spurt with just under seven minutes to play.

The junior's fifth goal of the day proved to be the eventual game-winner, while Valway and freshman Gwyneth Gleason combined for five goals and five assists.  

Gleason added a team high three draw controls, while Burke corralled four ground balls. Senior goaltender Lauren Smith recorded 11 save sin the victory.

  • Newcomers Murphy and Hoeffner have made an immediate impact for the Cavaliers, as the duo leads the club with 15 and 13 points, respectively.
  • Wozniak has scored at least one goal in her last 17 games and recorded a point in 40 of her 43 career games.
  • Twelve Cavaliers have caused at least one turnover, while 14 have secured at least one ground ball through Cabrini's four games.
  • Cabrini has won its CSAC/PAC opener in each of the last 20 years.

  • The Pacers boast the CSAC's top scoring offense with 63 goals through five games and are the league's only team with a positive scoring average margin.
